How to Create a Great Blog Design (Jake Revolver posted on August 15th, 2011 )

Everyone wants the maximum number of visitors to their blog as possible. The blog writer has information they want to share and there are people out there who want to read it. How is a great blog designed? Below I will give you some helpful and easy tips to improve the design of your blog and increase your number of readers.

First of all, consider what information you want share with your readers. Are you discussing parenting, medical advice, cleaning or relationships? Choose a main focal point so the reader knows what type of blog they have stumbled upon.

Don’t clutter the page with numerous links and choices. Blog readers tend to decide pretty quickly if they intend to stay and read your blog or move on. They certainly do not want to be assaulted by pop up ads and several choices, not knowing where to click.

Make the navigation simple to use. Readers do not want to have to study the page to figure out how to get what they want. A lot of people use a content slider for WordPress to promote what their best articles are. Most people that are choosing to read something online are on limited schedules and want instant gratification.

Choose a style that appears professional yet highlights the area you are focusing on. This would assist the reader in being able to make an immediate decision on if your blog is something for them or not.

Your blog should load quickly and cleanly. Readers get annoyed and lose interest if the page is cluttered with unnecessary content such as calendars, counters and excess images. These items also decrease the speed that the page loads. So keeping it simple and clean is best.

When setting up your blog design and choosing a style and colors, make sure the page is readable. There is nothing more frustrating than finding an interesting topic to read and yet by the time you’re done you have a raging migraine from the eye strain. Choose simple colors that aren’t too bright. And make sure the text is simple to read and stands out clearly from the background color.

You want your blog to stand out from others. It could be something as simple as using your favorite color on a header for every page they navigate to. At the same time you don’t want to use something offensive or too bold that will turn the reader off.

The biggest tip I can give you is to research! Research other blogs that are successful and see what types of designs are being used. You certainly do not want to copy or imitate another blogger but learn from others and see what works and what doesn’t. Make it yours and make it unique. Good luck bloggers!

Social Networking sites are the number one way people communicate today. Social networking sites have really closed the geographical gap even more. All of our electronic devices have instant access to our favorite networking sites at the touch of a finger. Cars are even now being equipped with Wi-Fi capabilities to help us keep connected at all times no matter where we are or what we’re doing. These sites are not just being used for personal aspects; they are now being used as marketing tools which opens so many more doors for business men and women out there. If you plan to use social media for business you need the right social media monitoring, either in house or outsourced to an agency. Social media seems easy at first, but at a second look it’s the hardest thing.

Facebook is the number one social networking site in the world to date. Nearly every company, website, club, charity group and person throughout the world has a Facebook site. When you’re looking for a job, having a Facebook page can help potential employers get to know more about you and your education, past jobs and skills. You can also keep up to date with any sales and events that are going on at your favorite stores and keep in touch with group or club members to coordinate upcoming events.

Twitter is the second most popular social networking site. This site also has links to many of our favorite businesses but it also connects us to our favorite celebrities and athletes. This site connects us on a more personal level because it’s all about putting out to the world any quick thoughts that you might have throughout the day. When you watch the news there is always some kind of quote from Twitter featured. These quotes are either made by a random citizen about a specific news story or made by a celebrity/athlete about an event they were apart of or that effected our world.

MySpace was one of the first social networking sites. MySpace was created long before Facebook but has now taken the backburner position to Facebook. If you are trying to find an old friend using the internet, these social networking sites are definitely useful. However, you could also consider a service like People Search for finding past acquaintances. Many people still use this site but it is mostly made up of people who created their MySpace pages when it first came out. In fact you can now connect to your MySpace page using your Facebook login information.

Other more specialized social networking sites that our quite popular today are: LinkedIn, Ning, Tagged, hi5, Meetup, Bebo, Mylife, Friendster, Myheritage, Myyearbook and a few more. Social networking sites are a part of our everyday lives now no matter how young or old. It keeps our world connected in ways we could have never thought possible. If you’re not a part of some kind of social network, you’re behind the times. Get connected, stay connected.
